Welcome to Hydrological Studies Organisation

Hydrological Study Organization (HSO), the main function of this organization is to provide basic input of hydrology for rational planning of water resources projects, review design flood studies for various projects, technical appraisal of the hydrological aspects of river valley projects, consultancy of project hydrology connected with the planning, design and operation of water resources projects and vetting of hydrological chapters, provide guidance/assistance to various agencies like WAPCOS, NEEPCO, NHPC and State Governments in undertaking hydrological studies, imparting training on project hydrology to various Central and State Government's Engineers and prepare Manuals/Standards for hydrological analysis. Preparation of Report and Secretarial work of Study on Salinity ingress in Coastal Areas, Revision of BIS Codes Pertaining to WRD-IO, Secretariat work of EAC for MoEF; Consultancy Studies, Special Studies, international Projects, E- flow Studies, Secretarial work of EAC of MoEF, Special Studies (Flood simulation, possible diversion of IN DUS water of China, Brahmaputra matter with China, Storage issues of Brahmaputra, International Issues (China, Bangladesh, Bhutan), National Hydrology Project-III, International Co-operation, Interstate issues, Revision of BIS Codes Pertaining to WRD-l and DRIP. The Organization would keep a watch on latest development/identification of stress areas in the field of Hydrology and identify areas of Research in the sphere of activities like adoption of appropriate flood frequency methods in India in line with Bulletin 13 "Methods of Flow Frequency Analysis" used in USA, and carry out research in-house/by other agencies.
